Basic sugarpaste & gumpaste class
I will be pretty busy this weekend and don’t think I’ll be updating this blog until early next week. Before I go, I’d just like to show you the pictures of the cake done by one of my student, Ila. She’s quite new in using fondant but I’m so proud of her, look at her work :
Most of the students who came requested to make this type of cake, flowers with fabric effects…I try to teach them what they want to learn. We really had fun in the class. It’s quite funny sometimes to see them getting so excited during the making of the cake !
The base of the cake was done using the basketweave rolling pin, the one I used earlier to make my sunflower cake. The flowers were done using cutters. Swags and ribbons made from gumpaste mix with fondant. The red edging was created by using a cutter. We made the ‘broderie anglaise’ by poking some small holes with the end of a round piping tip and used a crimper with the love shape.
I’m very pleased with the results. Thanks Ila, you really have talent. It’s been great having you.
