Cake decorating - Airbrush
Hi, I’m back. Sorry no baking pictures today. Actually I baked a cake, but I didn’t like the taste, its a new recipe. I don’t think I want to pass on anything which I’ve tested and doesn’t turn out very well. Maybe today we can discuss another technique in cake decorating, which is Airbrush.
I don’t have any experience doing airbrush. This is something I hope to learn in the future (after I have mastered the basic of cake decorating with icing etc). Some samples of airbrush cakes from the internet :

A work of art, isn’t it ? I bought a book called “Unique Cartoon Cake Decorating” by our local chef, Tan See Fong. They also sell the tools needed for airbrushing such as the oil based colouring and airbrush system. Some Bagus Marketing shops in KL also sell these products. To learn airbrush, I think it is compulsory to attend some formal classes. Of course, this is for the ‘hard core’ cake decorators..because you need to invest a few hundred RM to buy the airbrush system and the colours.
Having said that, sometimes I am quite concern with using too much colours on my cake. Even though it is edible, I’m sure there are lots of chemical in the colouring. If I’m using fondant, I just peel off the layer and throw it away before eating the cake. To me, its more about presentation, I don’t recommend eating too much of the colouring.
It’s raining now in KL, what a lovely time to snug into my bed..ok, gotta go and have a happy weekend to all.

aiyo, that airbrush thingie is very messy, and totally impractical for home use, unless you have a bakery la, and intend to use them paints very often. hahah.
