		<description>Hi Grace, yes you can use buttercream or similar frosting on the cake. Just let it crust a little bit before you transfer the pattern. Probably for this type of cake, its better to trace on acetate sheet. Check out http://www.wilton.com/decorating/basic/patterns.cfm. 
I never make my own piping gel. Just buy the ready made one. Thanks.</description>
